Lyophilic Sol (Starch)

Lyophilic means "liquid-loving". The dispersed phase has a strong affinity for the dispersion medium (water).

• Method: Direct Mixing (Boiling)
• Stability: Very High
• Nature: Reversible

Lyophobic Sol (Fe(OH)₃)

Lyophobic means "liquid-hating". These require chemical methods to prepare. We use Hydrolysis.

FeCl₃ + 3H₂O → Fe(OH)₃ + 3HCl
• Method: Chemical
• Stability: Low (Needs Stabilizer)
• Nature: Irreversible
